Data-Driven Help
data driven help lets you display different help topics based on the field values or conditions in the record a user is viewing this is useful when a single field or on screen element requires different guidance depending on its value for example, showing a different topic for each picklist option, opportunity stage, or campaign cost range the feature works by allowing authors to create multiple helped element records for the same helpable item (such as a field, button, or custom link), each with its own data driven filter unaric guide evaluates these filters against the current record and displays only the help topic whose criteria match the data if a record doesn’t meet the filter criteria, the corresponding help topic is simply not shown how it works data driven help uses filters to link help topics to field conditions for example filter syntax \[field name] \[operator] \[delimiter] \[value] \[delimiter] example \[priority] \[equals] \["high"] → displays high priority troubleshooting steps multiple topics per field link several topics to one field (e g , different help for priority = high vs priority = low ) default topic for new records mark one topic as "use for new?" to display when no data exists example use cases object use case cases show escalation steps for priority = high , but standard workflow for priority = low opportunities display renewal process for stage = renewal , else show new deal guide custom objects tailor help for picklist values (e g , product type = software vs hardware) add data driven help on the target record page, click the icon and select re configure select the field you want to apply filters to the field labels may contain numbers; this is to indicate if any fields have data driven filters on them and also the number of filters click the help enabled field you want to configure use the data driven filter field under the filtering and visibility section to enter the rule which dictates when this help should be visible they generally follow this format \[field name] \[operator] \[delimiter] \[value] \[delimiter] use the field name , not label , as this builds a soql query next to the data driven filter field you also have use for new? checkbox you can tick to force usage of this helped element when creating new objects if you are going to have multiple help topics linked to one field, this option provides you the ability to state which is the initial help topic which will be displayed when filling in new topics once you have finished editing, click save to link additional help topics to the field, use the clone helped element or create buttons you will need to change the name field to reflect the filter option press the magnifying glass on help topic to find the correct help you would like to add add the filter required to present your help topic at the relevant time tick the use for new option if this is to be your default help topic press save once complete, keep adding additional topics depending on the various options you have on the pick list you can then follow this procedure multiple times
