Is After & Is Before
These filter types are available for Date field types.
All dates in Salesforce Marketing Cloud are stored in UTC format. When you select a date and time in a DESelect Segment filter, the platform queries that exact UTC timestamp directly from your Data Extension, completely ignoring your personal user timezone settings.
For example, if you filter for "December 5, 2019 12:00 AM", the platform returns records matching that time, regardless of your local timezone. If you want to filter based on a local time instead of the server time, you can use the Convert TimezoneConvert Timezone feature.
is after filter type
The is after filter is used to include only those records where a date field is later than a specified date. Common use cases include:
- Customers who signed up after a product launch
- Leads that were created after a campaign started
- Events scheduled in the future
Example
You want to target customers who made a purchase after January 1, 2025. You would apply:
Order Date → is after → 2025-01-01

is before filter type
The is before filter is the opposite. It includes only records where the date is earlier than the one you specify. Common use cases include:
- Filter out expired subscriptions
- Target customers who engaged before a deadline
- Identify inactive users
Example
You want to target customers who made a purchase before today. You would apply:
Order Date → is before → today
The Today keyword is used to refer to a Date value that contains a year, a month, and a day without any time information. The Now keyword is used to refer to a Date value that apart from the year, month, and day information also contains hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds.

Unaric Segment automatically uses the DateTime format defined by your user locale settings in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. If you update your locale in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, the platform will automatically apply the new DateTime format the next time you open it.
Unaric Segment does not automatically apply Daylight Saving Time (DST) when converting dates and times from one time zone to another. If you are converting data into a time zone that is currently observing DST, you must manually adjust the conversion to the corresponding UTC offset (for example, use UTC + 8 instead of UTC + 7 for PST during DST).
