Data Sets
This feature is available in Unaric Segment Plus and Advanced.
Unaric Segment allows you to create Data Sets, which are predefined combinations of Data Extensions. In a Data Set, administrator can predefine the match type alone and the matching column will be automatically retrieved from the Predefined Relations.
Data Sets allow users that are not familiar with the data model to just drag-and-drop the whole set of combined Data Extensions to their main Selection.
How it works
The Predefined Relations feature allows predefining the relations between Data Extensions. With Data Sets, admins can use these Predefined Relations to define combinations of Data Extensions. Data Sets will allow you to define combinations of Data Extensions and help marketers create Selections even faster, without the need to understand every detail of your data model.
Since there is no link between the Selected Data Extensions and the Data Set that was used to add them, changes in a Data Set will not affect existing Selections that used those Data Sets during creation.
Define a Data Set
- Navigate to the Admin Panel and from the sidebar select the Data Sets menu.
- Click the New Data Set button.
- Provide a name.
- Under Available Data Extension, select the main parent Data Extension to use and click Add. For example, if you want to create a Data Set that contains all valid customers alongside their order details, it would look something like this (you can optionally set an alias:
- Click the + icon on the parent table and select the related Data Extension you want to combine (such as DESelect_DEMO_Orders). The dropdown list only displays tables that have been linked previously under the Relations tab. Click Select.
- Review the preconfigured matching columns retrieved from the Relations tab in the modal and click Save.
- Select the match type for this combination of Data Extensions in the next modal and click Save.
- To chain additional tables, click the + icon on the right side of the newly added Data Extension. There is no limit to how many tables you can combine.
- Click Save to finish.
Use Data Sets
After being defined, Data Sets can be used inside Selections. You can find them next to the Data Views tab in the Input section.
To use the Data Extensions of a Data Set inside one for your Selections, drag and drop the Data Set into the Selected Data Sources section, and all Data Extensions will be added. You can only combine a Data Set with a Selected Data Extension that has the same base (parent). The rest will be grayed out.
