help guides are specialized reading lists designed for guided, step by step assistance to this end, help guides introduce enhanced functionality such as field level guidance and in place prompts across lightning record pages how it works help guides are created by guide enabling a page and selecting fields in the desired order, entering step information as you go each step can have relevant prompt information when users are on a record page with active guides, they will see a guides option in the quick access menu clicking guides presents available walkthroughs for that specific object or page create a help guide make sure the ‘improved help – auto form’ lightning component is added to the target page layout see help enable mode docid 3szdo8wpkrjtnlog4tyrt gain familiarity with creating reading lists, as guides build on the same entry structure open the salesforce record page where the guide will be used open the tools menu and select guide enable from the dropdown menu from this screen, you will then be presented with any guides which you have previously made create a new guide by pressing the + icon click the fields or buttons you want to include in your guide select the fields in the order you want them to appear in the properties tab you can name your guide, define visibility and sharing settings, and add an optional description in the steps tab, you will see the list of available fields add and remove them or use this window to re order your steps in your guide once you have finished, click save optionally, you can now go through each of the steps in your guide to give them relevant prompt information toggle the switch icon on (green) to preview what users will see, or off (red) to edit it share and ids to share or reference your guide click the three dots icon and then the share icon you will receive a url the 18 character code after gid= is your guide id example https //yourinstance lightning force com/lightning/r/contact/003/view?iahelp gid=a0cxxxxxxxxxxxx
