this update introduces a suite of rental and logistics features to automate the subscription lifecycle and optimize inventory installation use the following buttons to install v5 7 in your production or sandbox environment what's new order rental payments we have introduced a new equipment order payments and order payment lines objects as related records to the equipment order object the records are used to store payment information for rental subscriptions as example, if a rental order has a payment frequency of monthly, payment records will be automatically created on a monthly basis rental invoice we have included a sample rental invoice pdf on the order payments record the rental invoice is accessed by clicking on the invoice preview button on the equipment order payments record you can clone and modify our delivered invoice visualforce page ( rental invoice ) as desired rentals customer portal we have introduced a new consumer portal for rentals, built on the salesforce experience cloud users can search, select, and add equipment to their order and submit a rental order equipment already reserved, loaned, or inactive is excluded from search, and it is possible to filter available equipment based on selected date periods displayed pricing information can be configured per your requirements a summary page will show equipment and quantity selected and total rates for the rental duration rental orders are automatically created in the system for your review and can optionally be committed upon creation as delivered, the site can be configured to be publicly available to guest users where they will enter in contact details prior to submission this site does not require an additional licence, unless you require users to log in to complete rental order submissions geo location tracking we have introduced the ability to perform geo location tracking and store the location of equipment and the location of equipment order destinations ( address ) using the google geo location service this integration enables you to search and select equipment based on the proximity of the equipment (e g the shortest distance) of where the equipment resides compared to the location it will be delivered the google geo location service is a paid service, but includes a substantial 10,000 requests per month for free to review and signup for this service, see geolocation api usage and billing https //developers google com/maps/documentation/geolocation/usage and billing when you sign up for the service, you will obtain an api key to be entered into the delivered google api key custom setting in salesforce we have also delivered two additional custom settings for geo location when these are active, a new geo location will be created when an equipment assignment or equipment order location is changed (not only on creation) new equipment location object we have delivered a new equipment location object to track inventory warehouses, sites, or other locations that store equipment this is a dedicated object for equipment assignments as an alternative to other objects such as account, contact, or customer objects after creating an equipment location, you can assign equipment and equipment assignments to them new mobile file attachment to equipment now when you upload a file or take a screenshot from your mobile device on the equipment scan screen, a link files you uploaded button allows you to add these files to the equipment record
