Use the built-in geolocation tracking feature to track users' physical location. When this feature is enabled, users will receive a prompt in their browser to enable location services. Upon granting permission, geolocation data will begin appearing in Help Interactions.

This feature is available at no cost during the trial period. For production use, this is a **paid feature**, available as part of the **Unaric Guide Starter Package**.‍

We highly recommend this be tested properly before deploying in production.

Before deploying to production, ensure you have a solid communication strategy in place. Explain this feature to users, why they are being asked to accept tracking, and how it benefits them.

## Enable geolocation tracking

### 1. Enable geolocation tracking settings

1. Navigate to **Help Settings > Tracking** tab.
2. Mark the **Allow Geolocation Tracking **checkbox to enable it.
3. Use **Geolocation Timeout **to set a maximum waiting time to receive a location fix before giving up and reporting an error or a default/cached location. If geolocation retrieval completes faster, the timeout setting will have no effect. Longer timeouts only impact performance if the geolocation service is slow.
4. Optionally, mark **Enable High Geolocation Accuracy** for higher accuracy. This option engages additional device services (e.g., GPS, Wi-Fi scanning), which increases end user battery consumption but typically improves location precision; we recommend
switching it on if the current data is not accurate enough.
5. Click **Save** to finish.

### 2. Set user permissions

Geolocation tracking controls are managed via the packaged permission set.‍ You can choose if all users or only a subset of users are geolocation tracked, by adding Users to the **Help Geolocation Tracking** Permission Set. Alternatively, enable **Track Interaction Geolocation** Custom Permission on selected Profiles.

Alternatively, add the 'Track Interaction Geolocation' Custom Permission on selected Profiles.

## Tracking users on your Salesforce Mobile app‍

Geolocation tracking is fully supported in the mobile app. You will need to make sure that the **Position Detector** component is available in your Salesforce Mobile App configuration. Your Lightning pages need to be activated for **Desktop and phone**.
