## Data Extensions as Entry Sources

Target Data Extensions can be used directly as entry source in the Journey Builder. To this end, the Target Data Extension must be configured as*** sendable*** and contain the fields required by the journey Builder.

### 1. Create your Target Audience

1. Create a new Selection:
   - Give it a clear name that describes the purpose of the audience (e.g., *Spring\_Campaign\_Audience*).
   - Apply your filters and segmentation logic to define the target group.
2. Select your output Data Extension or Target Data Extension:

Choose an existing DE or create a new one.

Ensure the DE is *sendable*.

Map with required fields (e.g., **SubscriberKey**, **EmailAddress**). Note that DESelect Administrators can set default Send Relationship from the Admin Panel ensuring that this field will be automatically populated in future.

3. **Save** and **Run** the Selection. Once run, your Data Extension will be populated with the targeted records.

### 2. Use the Data Extension as Entry Source in Journey Builder

1. Go to Journey Builder and click** Create New Journey**.
2. Choose *Multi-Step Journey* (or *Single Send* depending on your use case).
3. For the **Entry Source**, select *Data Extension*.
4. Click **Choose Data Extension** and select the one you created earlier.
