The "Print Equipment Labels" features allow users to generate equipment labels.
Before using this feature, a system administrator must configure the label layout using a Custom Setting. This configuration includes specifying the label template and the data fields to be included on the labels.
- Go to Setup.
- On Custom Code > Custom Settings, search for Equipment Labels and click Manage.
- Click on New.
- Set "Equipment Labels" as Name.
- Specify the fields and captions.
- Fields 1-6: These fields determine what information is displayed on the labels.
- API Names or Custom Text: You can populate them with either:
- API Names of fields from the Equipment object (e.g., Name, SerialNumber, Model).
- Custom text strings that you want to appear directly on the label.
- To find API Names: Navigate to Setup > Create > Objects > Equipment.
- For standard fields, use the Field Name.
- For custom fields, use the API Name.
- Captions:
- Caption Fields 1-6: Optionally, add descriptive captions to precede the values in Fields 1-6.
- Blank Captions: Supported for a cleaner look. Note: The first line of the label (Field 1) is always displayed in bold for emphasis.
- Click Save to finish.
- On the Equipment tab, use the checkboxes on the Equipment List View to select the equipment records for which you want to print labels.
- Click the "Print Equipment Labels" button.
- Select copies, format, and typeface.
- Click the Proceed button to finish.
Standard labels print on Avery 5162 (or equivalent) sheet labels with specific dimensions: 4” x 1 1/3”, 2 across, 7 down. Label data can be exported and loaded into industrial label production software for more complex layouts or different label materials.
