Equipment

Equipment is the core object in ELTON, representing physical or digital assets used in your business operations. The equipment records integrate with standard Salesforce objects like User, Contact, Account, and Opportunity to provide enhanced tracking and management capabilities.

Key tracking concepts

ELTON supports the two most common equipment lending scenarios:

  • Sales rep loans (simple workflow): Sales or service representatives maintain personal equipment inventories that they directly loan to prospects and customers in the field. In this case, equipment loans are directly created without going through requests or reservations.

  • Centralized equipment (complex workflow): This is the case where sales reps or other staff request equipment on behalf of a customer, then operations staff fulfill the requests from a central equipment pool and manage the lending process and return logistics. In ELTON, this workflow can be summarized as follows: Request -> Reservation -> Loan -> Return.

To this end, ELTON fully manages equipment over its lifecycle. The main equipment actions are the following:

  • Assignments. Indicate which user or physical location the equipment is currently allocated to. Accommodates both field rep personal inventories and central warehouse inventory stocks.
  • Requests. Initiate the loan process by requesting equipment of a certain type without specifying a serial number. Enables flexibility for ops teams to fulfill with appropriate available inventory.
  • Reservations. Enable future dating of equipment loans to coordinate availability and delivery lead times.
  • Loans. Record details like loan start, estimated return, and actual return dates to track equipment movements.
  • Orders. Manage several equipment transactions for the same object.
  • Collections. Group multiple pieces of equipment that travel together as kits or bundles. Enables tracking equipment sets as a single unit.
